MIDWAY - STRIKE AGAINST THE AKAGI
by Robert Taylor

Fifty plus years ago on 4 June 1942, in what history now records as one of the greatest naval victories of all time, the Japanese fleet was decimated in a mighty battle off Midway Island by a handful of courageous U. S. Navy pilots. It was a blow from which the Japanese Navy never recovered. Recreating a scene from the Battle of Midway in a remarkable painting, Robert Taylor gives us a dramatic pilot's-eye view of the Japanese carrier AKAGI, as an SBD Dauntless from the USS ENTERPRISE lines up his sights and prepares to deliver the coup-de-grace. We are treated to a superb study of the redoubtable SBD, with perforated dive flaps fully extended, as it hurtles towards the yellow deck. This limited edition is authenticated with the individual personal signatures of six courageous pilots who played a significant role in the historic Battle of Midway, providing connoisseurs of aviation art with a rare and unique collectors piece and a lasting reminder of a glorious victory. Certificate of Authenticity with print. Signed by: Dick Best, Marion Carl, Robert Elder, Bill Esders, Scott McCuskey and Jack Reid.
